Our multiculturalism has made Malaysia a gastronomical paradise and home to hundreds of colorful festivals. It's no wonder that we love celebrating and socializing. As a people, Malaysians are very relaxed, warm and friendly.
One of Malaysia's key attractions is its extreme contrasts which further add to this theme of ‘diversity’. Towering skyscrapers look down upon wooden houses built on stilts while five-star hotels sit just meters away from ancient reefs.
Rugged mountains reach dramatically for the sky while their rainforest-clad slopes sweep down to floodplains teeming with forest life. Cool highland hideaways roll down to warm, sandy beaches and rich, humid mangroves.
For the perfect holiday full of surprises, the time is now, the place is Malaysia.
Having had an interesting past and being a part of the international spice route many hundreds of years ago, Malaysia has turned into a mosaic of cultures. Everything from its people to its architecture reflect a colorful heritage and an amalgamated culture. To understand Malaysian culture, you must first get to know its people.
Its a Land of Intriguing Diversity -- Malays, Chinese, Indians and many other ethnic groups have lived together in Malaysia for generations. All these cultures have influenced each other, creating a truly Malaysian culture.
The largest ethnic groups in Malaysia are the Malays, Chinese and Indians. In Sabah and Sarawak, there are a myriad of indigenous ethnic groups with their own unique culture and heritage.
So iff anyone wants to see how different cultures come together and live together to form a society, Malaysia is the place to be!
Things I want to do in Malaysia
1. Patronas Towers --
Towering at 451.9m above street level, this world-renowned icon is currently the world's tallest twin structure and fifth tallest skyscraper.Going to Malaysia and not seeing the Petronas towers is like a sin! Standing in front of the towers and clicking the most amazing picture is something I would definitely love to do in Malaysia.
2. The gastronomic hunt – Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur
Being a foodie i'd head to Jalan Alor for an authentic street food experience to enjoy a plate of char kuey teow or BBQ chicken wings amidst the sound of clanging woks and waiters shouting out orders.
3. Beaches --
The beaches of Malaysia are haven for adventurous people like me. Some of the popular water sports I would like to try include Catamaran Sailing, Speed Boating, Snorkeling, Banana boat rides and paragliding.
4. Nightlife in Penang --
Having heard a lot about the nightlife in Malaysia, especially Batu Ferrinhgi, I would love to explore it and enjoy itt.
5. Trekking and Camping --
Jungle Trekking is a great way to explore the insides of Malaysia. I would like to go for a walk in the Teluk Bahang forest. I would also like to explore the unspoiled beaches and the old lighthouses at the north-western side of the island.Also the World's largest cave chamber in Mulu.
The most unique thing about Malaysia is that it has everything to offer for everyone! Falling in love with places is easy because they have something to offer to each traveler. For the extrovert, there are people to talk with and understand the lifestyle; for the nature lovers, there is breath-taking flora and fauna to blow their minds away! For the ones in love, there are serene tourist spots and for the adventurous bunch of friends there are mountains to go trekking on or water adventure sports to experience & try something they have never tried before in their life!
